HUANGSHAN, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Fengwu Village in Yixian County, Huangshan City, east China's Anhui Province, is a small village with picturesque scenery. In recent years, design teams were invited by local authorities to revitalize rural public spaces through micro-renovations.
In the village, a Village Memory Museum was built. The two-story building has its first floor serve as a semi-open public space, while the second floor houses an exhibition area displaying old artifacts donated by villagers, recreating the village's living history.
Not far from the museum, a covered bridge spans over a once-abandoned aqueduct. The bridge functions as a resting spot for villagers and a scenic viewpoint for tourists.
The village also transformed a disused tea factory into a farm for demonstration of rice cultivation and deep processing of agricultural products. The farm offers activities such as fruit picking, camping, rural study programs and homestay services to visitors.
The expansion of these new business models provides diverse experiences for tourists while creating more job opportunities for the locals. In 2024, Fengwu Village's collective income reached 1.58 million yuan (about 221,200 U.S. dollars) with a 14.66 percent increase year-on-year.
